Daily Gratitude Exchange
Dinner times are important in our household, not always the easiest time of day, what with tired and fussy children, but an important time nonetheless. I believe it’s a great time for the whole family to sit together, share in a home cooked meal and catch-up on what each of us has done that day.
A while ago, I introduced the idea of a gratitude exchange, and it’s something we now try and include every day. Each of us takes a turn to tell the others what they are grateful for that day, it can be one thing, or several, but we find it’s a lovely way to take notice of our positive thoughts and share some love around the table! It’s worked so well, I’m often reminded by the kids to say what we’re grateful for, when I forget!
In addition to this daily ritual, we now have a gratitude blackboard on display in the kitchen, where each of us can write a note of gratitude whenever the urge arises! Life is so busy most of the time, it’s just nice to stop and reflect on what we are grateful for.
